From the writer of SOPHIE’S WORLD, today’s story book with a philosophical twist.
‘My dad died eleven years back. The pages certainly are a letter to Georg, created just before his dad died, and a tale, ‘The Orange Gal’. But then 1 day his grandmother discovers some webpages stuffed in to the lining of a vintage red pushchair. I by no means believed I’d hear from him once again, but now we’re composing a book collectively’
To Georg Røed, his father is only a shadow, a distant storage. I was just four then. The lady just hopped off the tram departing Georg’s father with hands full of oranges. 1 day he boarded a tram and was captivated by a lovely girl standing up in the aisle, clutching an enormous paper handbag of luscious-looking oranges. Instantly the tram provided a jolt and he stumbled forwards, sending the oranges flying everywhere.
But ‘The Orange Lady’ is no ordinary tale - it really is a riddle from days gone by and centres around an incident in his father’s youth. Right now, from beyond the grave, he’s asking his boy to greatly help him finally resolve the puzzle of her identification.
