Is Gujarat a turning stage for India?

The occasions at Godhra and the ensuing communal carnage in Gujarat, just like the Babri Masjid demolition and the 1984 massacres, constitute an ugly chapter of our modern background. The lessons of the violence should be heeded and applied by the general public. Separate sections cope with the part of the authorities, bureaucracy, Sangh Parivar, mass media and the tribals, the financial and worldwide implications of the violence, the issues of alleviation and rehabilitation of the victims, and, most importantly, their search for justice. The picture that emerges can be deeply disturbing, for Gujarat offers exposed the relieve with that your rights of residents, and especially minorities, could be violated with established sanction. Drawing upon eyewitness reviews from the English, Hindi and regional media, residents’ and recognized fact-finding commissions - and content by leading public numbers and intellectuals - it offers a chilling accounts of how and just why the condition was allowed to burn off.

With a synopsis by the editor, the reader addresses the circumstances before Godhra and the violence in Ahmedabad, Baroda and rural Gujarat. That happened in another of India’s most ‘well off’ and ‘progressive’ claims, the house of the Mahatma, is definitely even more alarming.

This reserve will be a permanent general public archive of the tragedy that’s Gujarat. For the sheer brutality, persistence and widespread character of the violence, specifically against women and kids, the complicity of the Condition, the ghettoization of communities, and the indifference of civil culture, Gujarat offers surpassed anything we’ve experienced recently. For, in the lack of this, can another Gujarat end up being prevented from happening somewhere else?
